Quarrel Quartet was formed in Warsaw in 1998. The group consists of students
of music academies in Berlin, Frankfurt/Main and Hannover. Since 2004
the quartet has been studying with Professor Hatto Beyerle and since
2005 has been a member of European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA). Currently
Quarrel Quartet is also studying in chamber music class of Artemis Quartet
at the UdK Berlin.
Quarrel Quartet is the first prize winner of National Bacewicz Chamber
Music Competition in Lodz (1999), Charles Hennen International Chamber
Music Competition in Heerlen (2001) and International Max Reger Competition
in Sondershausen (2002). Recently, in 2008 the group got first prize
and special prize at J. Joachim International Chamber Music Competition
in Weimar.
The quartet has attended masteclasses with members of Amadeus Quartet,
Ysaye Quartet, Tokyo Quartet. Thanks to the membership in ECMA the quartet
has the opportunity to work with such musicians as Peter Cropper, Johannes
Meissl, Christoph Richter, Erich Hobarth, Rainer Schmidt.
Quarrel Quartet
has performed in many European countries, also in the USA and Japan.
The group was invited to festivals in Warsaw, Kuhmo, Schleswig- Holstein,
Vilnius, Colmar (France), Usedom (Germany), Bolzano, Osnabrueck, New
York and Sapporo and collaborated with artists such as Natalie Clein,
David Geringas, Kikuei Ikeda (Tokyo String Quartet), Vladimir Mendelssohn,
Jascha Nemtsov, Christoph Richter, Martin Spangenberg and Maciej Grzybowski.
They appeared in such prestigious concert halls as Warsaw Philharmonic,
Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall (New York) and Kitara Chamber Music
Hall (Sapporo, Japan).
In 2004 the group was awarded Juetting Stiftung scholarship and since
2007 has been supported by Friedrich-Jürgen-Sellheim-Gesellschaft, being
on its artist list.
Quarrel Quartet has recorded works of Mendelssohn and Bacewicz for Polish
Radio.
Since 2007 Quarrel Quartet has two new members: Anna Szulc-Kapala -
viola and Eunyoung Park - cello. Both of them had former played in Klimt
Quartet. |
